MS Dynamics Vendor Day will coincide with the State’s enterprise Dynamics service offering available to agencies in 2012 and inform agencies and attendees of the Dynamics centralized service offering. The morning provides Commonwealth decision makers and technical Dynamics users a learning opportunity on the features and capabilities of Dynamics to accommodate agency business needs.

With more than 1,000 nominees and more than 500,000 votes, the three-year-old list – sponsored by Dynamics World -- is now firmly established in the Microsoft Dynamics consciousness. Gillis moved up two spots; last year he held the number five position.

Gillis is a long-time innovator and leader in the Microsoft Dynamics community. His accomplishments include helping to establish Hitachi Consulting’s Global Microsoft Dynamics practice and founding Iteration2, a multiple Microsoft Dynamics partner of the year winner that was acquired by Hitachi Consulting in 2007. He was also instrumental in making these organizations a successful Microsoft Dynamics AX partner, helping support Microsoft Dynamics AX Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), and creating a global distribution channel of Microsoft Dynamics AX resellers. Charles T. Russell is a Senior Partner with Collective Intelligence Inc., a firm providing computer--‐consulting services throughout the northeastern United States. A veteran of over thirty years in the computer industry, Mr. Russell focuses Enterprise Portal, CRM and Business Intelligence. He has taught, written and consulted extensively on each of these topics. More recently, Mr. Russell has focused on the design and deployment of enterprise wide SharePoint portal implementations with commercial industry, higher education and department of defense. Mr. Russell acting as an advisor and architect has focused primarily on leveraging SharePoint as collaboration, content management, business intelligence and software development platform. He has pioneered the use of SharePoint 2010 Business Connectivity Services connecting SharePoint to enterprise data. Mr. Russell has taught Object Oriented Analysis and Design, System Architecture, the Java and Smaltalk languages, JAD Facilitation, Data Modeling and the Information Engineering methodology. He has spoken at many information technology seminars and is currently engaged on an advisory basis with several fortune 1000 corporations.

Paul Reitmeyer is Planet Technologies CRM Practice Lead.  Paul has been working with Microsoft CRM since version 1.0 and has been actively working with Microsoft Partner organizations in the implementation, customization, and deployment of CRM for the past 7 years.  Paul is responsible for the architecture, development and implementation of Microsoft Dynamics CRM deployments for an array of clients within the commercial, federal, and SLGE sectors at Planet Technologies. He leads a team of customization experts, developers and data migration specialists to provide robust and fully integrated CRM solutions for Planet’s customer base. While in this role, he has had the opportunity to develop solutions which span both CRM and ERP with backend integrations from SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards (AS/400), and numerous 3rd party publishers.

The initial panel will focus primarily on business cases and real world practical use of Dynamics. Some of the areas of interest to the commonwealth are integration with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook and how the emails containing a token can be associated in Dynamics. Activities and auditing associated with a record will also be covered. Other topics could include a demonstration practical uses of Dynamics to manage all types of information and reporting. This could include business intelligence, case management, 311 center, correspondence management and/or Grants management. This session will be presented using common business terminology and will not be technical. The commonwealth audience will be agency Deputy Secretaries of Administration and other agency business decision makers.

Steve Ems, RSM McGladrey, Inc.

Al Smith, Trecom Systems Group

Steve Ems is the managing director of the Technology Business Solutions consulting practice for the Northeast Region of RSM McGladrey, Inc. The team provides technology strategy, system selection, packaged software implementation, application development, business intelligence implementation, systems integration and technology project management services to clients throughout the east coast. In his role, Steve is responsible for directing the strategy, vision and client service delivery of the practice. Steve has been with RSM McGladrey for more than 10 years, serving in various consulting roles for the company. Collectively, he has more than 25 years experience in providing technology consulting services to a range of clients operating in almost every industry. In addition to his current practice management responsibilities, he continues to consult with many of the firm’s clients in the areas of technology planning, application software selection, large scale ERP implementations and Customer Relationship Management deployments.

Al Smith is a Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist, MCSD, MCAD and MCT with deep experience on the Microsoft platform.  He has recently implemented Dynamics CRM for PA DCNR and TreCom's internal operations.  Al's Dynamics certifications include: Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) for MS Dynamics CRM Applications, Deployment, Configuration & Customization and Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) for Dynamics CRM.

This panel discussion will focus on the technical aspects of Dynamics while not delving into a display of programming code. Topics will include plug in’s, workflow (perhaps show event log custom entity and configuration entity as well with this), integration with Microsoft Office such as Excel and demonstrate “live” data analysis, and reporting. The commonwealth audience will be agency CIOs/IT Managers, application developers and potentially individuals from the first session.
