Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 White Paper: Testing Best Practices

Overview

These best practices apply to the development of product extensions built by independent software vendors (ISVs), as well as Microsoft Dynamics AX implementation partners and customers who are customizing Microsoft Dynamics AX for specific ERP deployments.
Microsoft’s Sure Step Methodology provides basic testing guidance that scales for five different project types. The terminology and process steps in Sure Step are the foundation of this document. The best practices presented here will supplement the Sure Step guidance for testing efforts in the Microsoft Dynamics AX ecosystem.

It is now available on Microsoft Download Center.

  • Context-sensitive help is also available for forms in the client and in Enterprise Portal.

The Application User Help can also be customized for your organization by your partners, or internally, by adding topics to the Help server. For more information, see the Help server topic on TechNet.

Microsoft Cloud Partner Profitability Guide: An interview with Marie Huwe and Kees Hertogh

Dear Readers, There was an interesting interview with Marie Huwe, General Manager of Marketing for Microsoft Dynamics at Software Advice. Here is the guest post by Hunter Richards, Accounting Market Analyst at Software Advice.

This year, Software Advice got to attend Microsoft’s Convergence conference. They spoke with Marie Huwe, General Manager of Marketing for Microsoft Dynamics, about the inevitable change to the partner channel’s business model when cloud computing really takes off. Partners will need to change to survive.

In the video below, Marie speaks about the new Microsoft Cloud Partner Profitability Guide, a collection of strategies and best practices for staying afloat as a partner in the cloud era.

Software Advice also got a private meeting with Microsoft Dynamics AX product manager Kees Hertogh. Kees gave the scoop on Dynamics AX 2012, which just entered beta, and is expected to be generally available this upcoming August. Kees explained the new embedded business intelligence tools and role-tailored user interfaces, among other new additions to this version. Check out the video below for the full interview.

been out for a long

Hey Readers, Its been a while i’ve been out of touch with this blog. This doesn’t mean i was not blogging, and time to spill some beans today, that the technology evangelist blog is now shifted from blogger to wordpress. My new blog is “It’s all about tech” (www.itsallabouttech.com).

It has been a great debate for the choice between blogger and wordpress. I’ve also been part of that mystery. As I always say,

“… nothing is god or bad, its only the requirement that makes it useful or useless.”

I did some great brainstorming over the path I will be taking my blogging experience too, and concluded to have a wordpress blog for now. It has not been quite so long, but it truly has been a great experience so far.

It’s all about tech is just what the name suggests. It is truly all about the technology, latest happenings, tips, tricks, how-to’s, everything you want to know about technology and everything I know about technology. It’s all there. If you have what it takes to be a technology evangelist, please do send me a DM on my twitter (www.twitter.com/atifahmed), and start blogging on the “tech about” platform. Be a part to spread the word and become a blogger.

Please visit www.itsallabouttech.com and let me know your valuable comments.

How to debug query and relationship related issues in AX5 forms

These type of issues are mostly related with the query or with the relationships between the child and parent Table or Form records. I would like to add some point here, that may help in troubleshooting these sort of issues

1) Check the form query, you can do it this From Form –> setup –> Query tab
2) Check out the init() method, if it contain the args() setting, is it setting the query here.

Once you are able to figure out that it is the query issue, you can check the following steps:

1) Check out the relations on the table
2) Check out the code in init() and the execute Query() method. Check for the query related code.

Hope this helps.
