Facebook now comes with God Mode?

Most of us who are crazy gamers, should be familiar with God Mode. It is basically a “cheat” code in several video games wherein the player’s avatar appears to have all the super natural powers, including invulnerable to damage, and “having free access to all parts of the game” (like, walking through walls, having all weapons etc).

The point here is a news that came on an article by Jack McKenna on TechCruch that You can block any facebook user except Mark Zuckerberg on one of the biggest social networking website.

If you log on to facebook (which I’m fairly certain most of you are now!), go to Mark Zuckerberg’s page and try to report/block this user (I tried too). You are presented with a message “general block failure error” with instruction “Block failed.”.

This is kind-a like funny, when some of my fellow readers do believe that if they were the CEO of the company they would surely want to have the full access to the site like the owner. While the discussion on facebook’s privacy has already been in moot in the recent past, this raises a few more questions. Like, if there has to be someone who could have the unlimited control to the site, it should have been the site Administrator. Interestingly, as an owner most of us might love to enjoy the Admin privileges too, but why Zuckerberg want this to his own profile? after being given to understand that he can have all the access otherwise.

For now, I can leave these questions to the youngest billionaire. You can have your say.

Actually, Zuckerberg is blockable -- provided you did it a while back. I blocked his account (yes, the real one) a few months ago, and it took hold. I just checked -- and he's still blocked.

The easiest way to block someone from reading your personal life, you know, the one you blasted all over the world, just do not have a facebook page. Oh wait I will be right back gotta take dinner out. OOPS I forgot this is a news blog not facebook HAHAHAHA. You facebook people want everyone to know your business or you would not put it out there. If you want to have fun on there, feel free; if you have private information to share with a friend, use our other great modern day technology and call them on your cell phone, after all long distance is free.

Of course I can block him, I opt not to participate in the inanity that is facebook...

It comes down to the public/private internet debate. Yahoo can't go snooping through the content of our email but Zuckerberg would probably say facebook pages are essentially public and privacy features are not required against any person, let alone those who own and administer the site. There is the potential for abuse and I abhor Zuckerberg's cavalier attitude about privacy.

Since he does post notices about updates and changes to Facebook, it makes sense to have an unblockable account. However, it has the appearance of being his personal account, and given Facebook's recent history of disregard for its users (and Mark's omnipresence amid each controversy, taken together it does smack somewhat of Big Brother. A general "Facebook Updates" account would be better.

With over half a billion user accounts, Facebook needs to start taking itself seriously as a company, or little things like this are going to be its downfall. Mark Zuckerberg simply isn't mature enough to run Facebook anymore.

His lack of apparent realization of what the real world is all about drove ME away from FB a long time ago.

I agree with you - he's been bought by Corporate America and has become one of their major tools. The whole Facebook thing is nothing short of creeeeepy.

I wonder how MZ reconciles that North Korea now has an account. For that matter, is it possible to post something, um, unwanted on their wall? I'd probably post this:

http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1903925248/nm0001174

Yeah, I know. Totally off topic. I do that sort of thing all the time.

I'm trying to figure out which creeps me out more this or the fact that with the new facebook places you can tag all you friends in one location, so that they show up in their other friends feeds w/o permission.

Wow, this is more of the control issues that facebook wants to have over its user based. I can’t want until the new social network http://www.SomethingCoolHappened.com is rolled out. According to their blog (somethingcoolhappened.blogspot.com) they plan to address this problem of privacy on social networking. Can’t wait!!!!
